Greubel Forsey Balancier

The high-end Swiss watchmaker Greubel Forsey has unveiled a new timekeeping wonder at Baselworld this year, in the form of the mesmerizing Balancier. Featuring a new balance wheel (hence the name), that was entirely made in-house, this exquisite watch shows off a restrained white gold look, complemented by amazing little details and the same high-quality finishing the Swiss brand is well known for.

Greubel Forsey’s Balancier comes with an interesting 43.5 mm asymmetrical case, featuring a hand polished bezel and vertical graining along its sides, and no one can ignore the case back either, extensively engraved to reveal the level of commitment and the incredible attention to detail. The dial has highly polished surfaces on display and blue indicators to contrast beautifully with the engraved indexes.

Powering up this extraordinary timepiece is a 37-jewel movement, comprised of 269 parts and benefiting from 72 hours worth of backup power. It’s true that this beauty looks a little bit more simple than the other timepieces recently unveiled by Greubel Forsey, but no one can deny the fact that this minimalist visual concept is fantastic.

Nonetheless, the Greubel Forsey Balancier watch comes attached to a hand-sewn black alligator strap and it’s going to be produced in a limited series of only 33 pieces. Exclusivity always comes at a high cost, and in this case it’s going to be 205,000 CHF (without VAT). An unexpected move, yet an appreciated one from Greubel Forsey.
