DJI Inspire 2

Designed to impress, and probably to dominate this Holiday Season’s shopping lists, the DJI Inspire 2 focuses on putting a smile on professionals’ faces. Perfectly equipped to handle industrial grade professional cinematography, this marvelous drone will make anyone around it feel giddy.

DJI’s newest drone is able to fly at speeds of up to 67 mph (108 km/h), so to say this thing is exciting is probably an understatement. While flying so ridiculously fast, this drone will also track subjects beyond the rotation range of the 360-degree camera gimbal or track any given subject while keeping it locked to a non-central point of the screen.

It all sounds technical, but to sum it all up: your shots have never looked cooler! Thanks to sensors mounted all around this device, it is capable to avoid obstacles, detect whether the terrain below is suitable for landing, and build up a 3D map of the entire area that will help it return home safely.

On the other hand, video professionals will probably appreciate the front FPV camera with 2-axis stabilization, helping them see straight ahead while the cinema camera handles its business. Packing dual batteries, that deliver 27 minutes of flight time and keep themselves warm in cold environments, DJI’s best drone also benefits from dual inertial measurement units (IMUs), compasses and barometers, to keep everything in check.

Advanced image processing capabilities let the Inspire 2 handle 5.2K RAW video recording at 4.2 Gbps, and it could record straight into CinemaDNG or ProRes 5.2K, while the upgraded Lightbridge video transmission system will send high-quality 1080p feeds over a range up to 4.3 miles (7 km).

Feel free to pre-order your own DJI Inspire 2 for US$2,999, the airframe, that is; the X5S camera and the CinemaDNG and the Prores license keys, together, will set you back another $5,999. Feel free to assume anything extra will cost a bit more.
