Is anyone willing to refuse a jaw dropping GT4-spec race car? Not us, which is why we must welcome Audi’s newest offering, a gorgeous racer meant to put everyone else at the 2017 New York Auto Show to shame. The new Audi R8 LMS GT4 is based on the road-going R8 V10 Coupe and features more than 60 percent of the same components, the rest being pure racing goodness.

Audi’s new race car is set to be constructed at the same Böllinger Höfe facility as the standard R8, and it’s specially designed to improve upon the RS3 LMS and its impressive performances. The team at Audi Sport aims to debut the vehicle at the Nurburgring 24 Hours from May 25th to 28th, so in just one month we’ll be able to see what this racer is capable of.

Powered by the naturally-aspirated V10, developing a cool 495 hp, this Audi R8 LMS will reach its lucky owners by the second half of the year. According to Audi Sport boss Stephan Winkelmann, one of the leading manufacturers offering cars in the GT3 and TCR customer sports categories will take hold of the GT4 class and possibly dominate the fast-growing business segments.

There’s no surprise in seeing Audi interested in the high-performance league, nor would it be surprising for the company to become king. Would you like to take one of these beauties for a quick spin around the track?
