The Immersive Business Class Seat is the result of the collaboration between BMW Design Works, Thales (a leading in-flight entertainment and connectivity brand) and BE Aerospace. Unveiled on the opening day of this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo held in Hamburg, it actually made it to the finals of the Premium Class & VIP category at the 2014 Crystal Cabin Awards (the only international prize for aircraft cabin innovations).

This impressive piece of engineering and design comes with high-end technological features such as touchpad controls integrated into the seat Ultra-High Definition (UHD) main display screen, Passenger Control Display, Eye Tracking and Interactive Virtual Landscape Panel. These features integrate cleverly with the seat and also work well with other products offered by Thales and others, including include the Thales SmartPIMs which allow passengers to interface their portable electronic devices with the IFE system, as well as Smart Device Ignition Wireless Charging.

The seat is a technological marvel that doesn’t compromise on aesthetics and will probably be requested by high-end private jet manufacturers (or their customers) as soon as it becomes available.
