MONA The Pavilions – A Luxury Hotel Near a Very Unusual Museum

Staying at MONA The Pavilions is an unforgettable experience, and not (just) for the usual reasons, like the high levels of luxury or breathtaking scenery. The site is primarily a museum, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania, famous for its many weird exhibits.

The hotel itself is made up of seven futuristic and highly luxurious pavilions, each named after an Australian architect or artist. Every residence has its own kitchen, wine fridge, safe, WiFi, and security camera. Wireless touch panels are set up throughout allowing guests to easily control the climate, lighting, and infotainment systems. Furthermore, the residences named Charles, Arthur, Sidney and Brett each has a painting by its namesake, in addition to antiquities and a collection of old coins.

Other facilities guests will certainly enjoy are the gym, sauna, and heated infinity pool. It’s also a good idea to visit the museum, if you’re into that sort of thing (which you probably are, since you’ve chosen this as your destination). It has been described as an “adult Disneyland,” a deeply unconventional that is definitely not for the faint of heart. Or you can simply explore the city of Hobart and its surroundings, enjoying the understated beauty of this far away part of the world.
