Michael Jordi has created in collaboration with Jean-François Mojon a marvelous collection of watches that cover eight exotic locations in terms of timekeeping. The Icons of the World collection features timepieces that focus on places rather than people.

The cases are made of titanium and plated with 18-carat gold, measuring 46 millimeters in diameter. Inside the back of the watches there is a special hammer which beats on a gong at a 2 Hz frequency, imitating the sounds of a chapel bell.

The pieces were penned down by Christophe Moinat, each of them evoking the Swiss Icon collection. The watches also feature a “sapphire crystal cambered like a pebble from the River Rhone and the cylinder-shaped crown featuring a deconstructed Swiss flag”. The black leather clasp is attached to the case via a steel folding clasp. It resists to depths up to a maximum of 100 meters.

The series includes a black and red piece that pays tribute to Moscow’s Kremlin – it is valued at $54,220. Other parts of the series honor America’s Statue of Liberty, the Taj Mahal, the Interlaken with the Eiger, the Jungfrau and Geneva with the “Jet d’Eau” water fountain and Mont Blanc, Mount Fuji, in Rio de Janeiro – the Sugar Loaf Mountain.

The series is due to unveiling at the BaselWorld convention during this year, all the pieces of the collection being available there.
