The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept was announced around a month ago by the German automotive brand and here we are with some photos and more info about it. The GLA is reportedly scheduled to have its official debut in Shanghai at the 2013 Auto Show.

What we have here is a stunning crossover with a bulging hood, protection plates under the bumpers, roof rails, broad wheel arches with moldings, dual exhaust, 20-inch alloys wrapped in 255/45 R20 rubbers and raked windscreen. The headlights are quite interesting as well, having been shaped in a gorgeous sweep-back style. The massive front radiator grille is absolutely weird though, boasted a massive replica of the three-point star logo of Mercedes-Benz. Well, the production version will definitely not look entirely like this, taking cues from the A-Class, with a higher ride.

The GLA Mercedes-Benz measures 172.4 inches (4.38 meters) in length, 77.6 inches (1.97 meters) in width and 61.8 inches (1.57 meters) in height. The wheelbase is also quite considerable, measuring 106.3 inches (2.69 meters). The kit powering this gorgeous contraption is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine just like on the A250, delivering 211 HP (155 kW). It is mated to a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

As for the production version, it will boast the same 2.0-liter engines found on the A-Class hatchback, offered in either diesel or gasoline configurations and delivering 211 HP (155 kW). There’s also an AMG-tuned variant rumored, a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged motor delivering 354 HP (260 kW). The production car will reportedly be unveiled in September, on the occasion of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
