L’Epée 1839 and MB&F Team Up to Create the Star Trek-Inspired Starfleet Machine Clock

Swiss clock manufacturer L’Epée 1839 has teamed up with the excellent craftsmen and designers over at MB&F in order to create the Star Trek-inspired starship/table clock called the Starfleet Machine.

Both MB&F’s founder, Maximilian Büsser, who developed the concept, and Arnaud Nicolas, the CEO over at L’Epée (the company which actually crafted the piece), are Star Trek fans, which ensured a great collaboration from the get-go.

Hour and minutes are indicated on the clocks central black dome by hand-polished hands that follow the dome’s curved contours, with a smaller rotating dome located behind it acts as a power reserve indicator. When the movement is fully wound, it has enough energy to last 40 days. Below the 12 o’clock of the central hour-minute there are two retrograde seconds in the form of turret-mounted laser cannons, which cross over one another and then quickly fly out again every 20 seconds, making this one of the clock’s more eye-catching features.

The Starfleet Machine is a limited edition, 175-piece collection, available in either the ‘light’ or ‘dark’ version, the latter with ruthenium-finished components.
