Kusa Tea Set

Japanese architect and designer Kengo Kuma has decided to impress us all with a precious tea set, imagined in honor of Georg Jensen’s silverware heritage and reminding every single one of us about the wonders of dreams coming true.

The exquisite tea service set was called Kusa and represents the designer’s elegant approach and contemporary take on traditional tea sets, meant to bring them to modern times. Tea sets are synonymous with Japanese culture, and this particular set was specially designed to be used for the sado tea ceremony in the country.

It comprises a cha-ire (tea cady), chasen (whisk), chashaku (tea scoop), chawan (tea bowl), as well as a lovely tray. Straying away from tradition, the circular tray, the cup and the pot are all made from silver – for a more precious touch.

Various collaborations were meant to refresh Georg Jensen’s silverware, and this latest idea is equally surprising and overwhelming. Bear in mind that Kuma has also been selected to design Japan’s main stadium for the 2020 Olympics, which might explain why the brand has chosen him to be the first Asian designer to be asked for this incredible favor.

Kengo Kuma’s Kusa Tea Set will cost a cool $80k, and only 11 lucky people will get to enjoy its presence the next time they are in the mood for a hot cup of exotic tea.
