Luxury watchmaker Bulova has created the world’s first timepiece featuring a case made from pure 24-carat gold.

The exquisite creation is part of the brand’s Joseph Bulova Collection and was conceptualized by Bulova Corporation President Gregory Thumm. It was made using a patent-pending method developed by the company together with its Swiss manufacturing partner, a process which ensures the 999.9 pure 24-carat gold is sturdy enough to be fashioned into such a delicate and beautiful piece, while also maintaining a high degree of functionality.

The watch has been designed in capsule-form, with the bezel, case and caseback anchored together with light and durable grade-5 titanium components to form a single unit, and contains a COSC-certified 26-jewel automatic movement. The strap comprises two layers: an alligator leather strap and a stainless steel mesh, held together with grade-5 titanium rivets.

The Joseph Bulova Collection First Edition 24-Carat Gold Timepiece is priced at $42,000, making it the most expensive watch the brand has ever created, while also being one of the most impressive.
