We’ve seen private islands from all over the world listed for sale but James Island is surely one of the best on the market right now. Craig and Susan McCaw, the latter pioneer in cellular phone industry, have purchased the 780-acre land in 1994 and are now putting it to sale, for a staggering $75 million.

The property is located around a mile away from the coast of Vancouver Island, and comes with a private marina, golf course designed by the legendary American golfer Jack Nicklaus, “The Golden Bear”, an airstrip and huge sandy beaches. The 5,000 square foot residence, the top of the island, includes four bedrooms and has been crafted from reclaimed cedar wood.

In addition, the property comes with staff accommodations, gym, a store, 6 guest cottages and a warehouse converted into a lavish entertainment center.

Mr. McCaw has previously declared that his family has deeply enjoyed every get away to the island, but has now thought of putting it on sail because the couple has “the perfect storm of kids’ activities and no one wants to be left behind.” The listing is being held by Mark Lester of Sotheby’s International Realty.
