Set near the old fishing village of Porto Ercole, on Tuscany’s western coast, just a couple of hours` drive from Rome, Il Pellicano hotel is all about luxurious tranquility.

The relatively secluded resort began as the private spot on the Italian coast of high society couple Michael and Patricia Graham. The location and the design of the retreat were so well chosen, that it has drawn the jet set like a magnet ever since. And what’s not to love about it? Comprising 50 elegant rooms spread between the main house and six cottages, the hotel’s accommodation options are up to the highest standards. The Monte Argentario peninsula, upon which the resort is built, is barely connected to the mainland via three bridges – so not only will traffic not be a problem, but also the only things guests will see when they look around are the gardens and the sea, with the majestic mountains of Tuscany forming the backdrop.

Guests who enjoy passing the time in a more active manner can take full advantage of the courts, gym, and heated salt-water pool, while those who are happy to just lie in the sun can do so on the sizeable beach-side sun deck.
