Acclaimed submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx has recently launched the Super Yacht Sub 3, the latest in a line of very impressive high-end underwater vehicles created by the Dutch company. Called the HP Sport Sub 2, the vessel is intended to fit onboard any superyacht (30 meters and up), while also being large enough to ensure all the comforts and luxurious features of a modern vehicle.

The design is not only easy on the eye, but also very safe and functional, according to company founder and chairman, Bert Houtman. The sub features a new acrylic-steel pressure hull design, measuring 285 cm (9.3 ft) long and 235 cm (7.7 ft) wide and tipping the scales at just 2,200 kg (about 4,850 lbs).

The HP Sport Sub 2 is powered by twin2.7 kW brushless electric thrusters providing horizontal propulsion and 4 x 2.7 kW thrusters providing vectored vertical propulsion, allowing it to reach a top speed of 3 knots on the surface and 2 knots underwater. Also worth noting is the maximum depth it can go to, which is 100 meters (300 feet).

The first of these excellent submersibles will be delivered to their new owners in the second half of 2015. Each HP Sport Sub 2 comes with a hefty price tag of $1.35 million.
