Building on the success of last year’s acclaimed Heritage collection, Montblanc is releasing a follow-up called the Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum, a world time watch with a day and night display.

The world time function works like you’d expect this sort of thing to work: there’s a push button at 8 o’clock, which advances the hour hand one hour at a time along the 24-hour disc, enabling the wearer to read the time in any of the places shown on the cities disc. The day and night display, on the other hand, is a bit more unusual. Basically it consists of a system of two sapphire discs, aligned in a way in which they indicate day or night in different parts of the wide as time passes. It’s a pretty cool visual effect, as you can see in the images below.

The Montblanc Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum has a 41mm case, available in either steel or rose gold. The steel version will set you back €4,990 (around $5,900), while the rose gold model is priced at a much steeper €13,900 ($16,400).
