Sure, that’s a bold statement, but so is any Hennessey project we’ve ever seen. The Texas-based tuner showed up at the 2015 SEMA Show with the updated 2016 Venom GT hypercar, which comes with more power than ever, as the company managed to make the twin-turbo 7.0-liter V8 engine run on E85 Flexfuel and increase its boost pressure from 19psi to 26psi.

This translates into 1,451hp, 207 horsepower extra than the previous version, with HPE stating that the new version will top 280 mph and do 0 to 60 mph in a hair rising 2.4 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in 4.4 seconds, and 0 to 200mph in just 12.8 seconds. If that’s not insanely fast, then we really don’t know what is.

They also brag about this hypercar doing the quarter mile in 9.4 seconds. Impressed yet? Well, if not, the special GPS-based traction control with pre-calibrated settings for certain tracks, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and a weight of 1,244kg which is about 2,743lbs will get you there.

What’s even cooler is that this beast features a manual gearbox, which means the driver is in complete control of the rev counter. Could you handle that? Hennessey will only produce a handful of Venom GTs in 2016, since they’re already busy working on the next evolution of this baby, the Venom F5.

It’s well worth mentioning that Hennessey Performance have also showed off their 774hp HPE750 Supercharged Mustang Convertible and the 650hp VelociRaptor 650 F-150 Truck at the 2015 SEMA Show, both of which feature the same beautiful bright yellow paintjob.
