Hasselblad X1D

There are only a few things that can really impress everyone in the photographers community, and a new Hasselblad camera is definitely one of them. The renowned Swedish camera maker has just unveiled the Hasselblad X1D, a new incredible body boasting a 50 megapixel CMOS sensor and an unreal ISO range of 100 to 256000.

This is not only Hasselblad’s first medium format mirrorless camera, but also the world’s first, and one of the most remarkable things about this camera is definitely its size. The X1D is even smaller than your average DSLR and almost as big as the large Micro Four Thirds camera bodies, which is a great achievement it itself.

The 50 million pixel CMOS sensor is the same 43.8×32.9mm sensor used on the Hasselblad H6D, or the Pentax 645Z and Phase One IQ3 50, but in this tiny body it just looks enormous, filling the entire area behind the mount.

Along with all these great technical features, users can slide in up to two SD cards, check their shots on a clear and responsive 3 inch screen, and tether to a computer using USB 3.0. Hasselblad also equipped this new body with a 3200mAh lithium ion cell battery, but we don’t know yet how many shots we should expect from a single charge.

For this brand new camera body, the Swedish brand has also released a new range of lenses called XCD, intended to work with the high resolution – but if you have an H system lens you can still slide it on the XCD with an adapter. Hasselblad quality comes with Hasselblad prices, however, and you’ll have to spend $8,995 to get your hands on one of these incredible mirrorless cameras.
