One of the most compelling symbols of masculinity and virility in the entire history and also one of Hollywood’s most fabled figures, Clark Gable’s cinematography reign had lasted for around thirty years. He occupies a respectable number seven in a list of the greatest masculine stars to have ever lived.

A huge lover of women and cars, Clark Gable has owned a small collection of stunning four wheelers. His 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupé, said to have ferried renowned names like Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh and Ava Gardner, will reportedly be put to sale at Barret-Jackson’s 2013 Scottsdale auction, part of the 19th January Salon Collection.

The vehicle was purchased by Mr. Gable himself from a branch of Mercedes-Benz in Hollywood. The exceptional car is one of the 1,400 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwings ever sold. Its mechanics have been maintained by Mercedes-Benz, while the restoration process was executed by Paul Russel.

This particular model boasts with a set of rare Rudge knock-off wheels, a Nardi steering wheel and fitted luggage. Furthermore, the Merc bears the signatures of Clark Gable and his wife, Kay Spreckels Gable.
