BMW unveiled the new M6 Gran Coupe

Finally BMW have announced the arrival of the anxiously awaited BMW M6 Gran Coupé. The car will reportedly debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show and it packs a sturdy punch. The beast is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine which has been fitted with two twin-scroll turbochargers, just like its larger siblings, the BMW X6M and the X5M.

Thanks to these impressive mechanisms, the car is reportedly able to develop 560 HP (412 kW) between 5,750 and 7,000 RPM, while boasting with a torque of 680 Nm (500 lb-ft) between 1,500 and 5,750 RPM. This also happens due to additional brand new installations like larger intake runners, tuned exhaust system and larger air to liquid intercoolers. The top boos pressure has been raised to 1.5 bar (21.7 psi).

The propulsion system is tied to a 7-Speed M-Double Clutch Transmission (the famous M-DCT), alongside an Active M Differential. Thanks to these, the acceleration of the M6 from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes places in 4.1 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).

Drive wise, there are a few features that make the driver’s experience quite a pleasurable and easy one – Low Speed Assistance, Auto Start-Stop function, electronically-controlled multi-disc limited-slip differential and Launch Control. In addition, the driver can set up the way the car drives according to his preferences, aided by the M-DCT Drivelogic shift program, Dynamic Damper Control mapping Servotronic responses DSC mode and special engine performance characteristics, all of them customizable.

As for the stuff which comes with the car, we shall mention the 2-zone automatic climate control, leather-covered, heated seats, automatically dimming rear-view and exterior mirrors as standard, while, optionally, the client can also get the Soft Close Automatic function, Bang & Olufsen top notch surround sound system, Sat-Nav, M multi function seats, heated steering wheel, Soft Close Automatic function and a plenty more.

There are also some integrated safety systems in our story, like Speed Limit Info, Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Surround View, the innovative BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition and High Beam Assistant. The BMW M6 Gran Coupé also comes fitted with Park Distance Control and Head-Up Display.
