Alexander Wang and Haydenshapes Team Up to Create Eye-Catching Marbled Surfboards

Due to the nature of the sport and its attire (or lack thereof), surfing isn’t exactly associated with the world of fashion. This is about to change as acclaimed fashion designer Alexander Wang has recently teamed up with Australian surfboard company Haydenshapes in order to create five eye-catching marbled surfboards.

More than just boards featuring unusual patterns, these exquisite items were hand-created by Hayden Cox (founder of Haydenshapes), through a process which included digitally printing photographs of unique marble slabs onto silk and transferring the design to the Hypto Krypto surfboards. These pieces are going to be on display at Alexander Wang’s New York flagship store located at 103 Grand Street, as part of an unusual installation which includes a cage-like mount and a black sand wave (see gallery below).

It’s not clear yet if these creations will be available for purchase or not, but what is certain is that, even without the design or the association with Wang, they would be highly coveted pieces. That’s because the Hypto Krypto model was named Surfboard of the Year by the Australian Surf and Board Sports Industry Association. All things considered, it’s an inspired, if unexpected collaboration which brings together the best of two worlds, something we always like to see.
