It has come to our ears that Nissan are on the verge of unveiling the brand new, improved version of the renowned GT-R, the 2014 edition to be exact. Due to meet market sometime during spring, this newer version will reportedly be a bit faster and easier to handle.

According to the Japanese manufacturer of automobiles, the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time will be reduced to a whopping 2.7 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the current GT-R. In addition, Nissan have mentioned that the 2014 version will be a lot more stable on the road, having managed to lap the famous Nürburgring in just 7 min and 19.1 seconds during May, last year. The model was reportedly under development at that time.

The finished product is expected to achieve a much better 7 min and 18.6 seconds time, thanks to the same old, yet improved 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine which delivers 550 PS. The 2014 comes with a variety of modifications though, including a sharper fuel injection control for improved mid-range and high-RPM response, new relief valve for the turbocharger bypass, which suppresses the rapid decrease of forced injection pressure, and a brand new oil pan baffle.

The specialists behind Nissan have also interfered with the car’s front anti-roll bar, springs and dampers, thus providing it with an even lower center of gravity. Furthermore, they have mounted new cam bolts to improve cornering, in addition to an increase of the torque carrying capacity of the driveshafts to the hub bearings. The 2014 Nissan GT-R also includes reinforcements to the dash panel bar and instrument panel member, for improved rigidity.

Although no further information has been disclosed so far, like pricing, maximum speed, exact output or even power to weight ratio, we’re still anxiously awaiting to see the 2014 Nissan GT-R out there, on the streets, where it actually belongs.
