1957 Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti

This beautiful 1957 Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti has been recently sold at auction, for the outrageous sum of $35,711,359. The Artcurial Motorcars Retromobile auction has set a new record, with this vehicle being billed as the most expensive car to be ever sold at auction.

The bidding process started at $22.3 million and went on to become really exciting before an unknown “international bidder” took home the gold – so to speak. Judging by the looks of it, this incredible piece of automotive history is well worth its price and the attention it got.

It’s no surprise there was such a battle for the classic Ferrari. This particular vehicle first competed in the Sebring 12 Hours in March 1957, and finished sixth. Furthermore, the same car came in second at the famed Mille Miglia race and became the first model in history to have an average lap speed of over 200 km/h at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Sir Stirling Moss drove it to victory at the Cuba Grand Prix in 1958, and that’s not to be ignored either. Sadly, it vanished as sudden as it came into the lights; let’s just hope its new owner will show it off as often as this classic beauty deserves.
